Washington Librarian Certification
:: 2024 Guide
Certification, or licensure, is Washington’s process of gatekeeping careers that pose potential threat to the community if an individual employed in the profession is either incompetent or a dangerous person. Both school librarians and public librarians are required to possess certification prior to employment. Additionally, for all other types of librarian, an educational requirement of a masters degree in Library and Information Science still limits who is qualified for entry-level positions.
