North Dakota Librarian Certification
:: 2024 Guide
Certification, or licensure, is the process the state of North Dakota imposes on candidates of specific careers that have an outsized impact on the well-being of our communities. For librarians, only the school librarian career type is required to hold certification prior to employment. However, librarian employers impose their own version of career gatekeeping through the educational requirement of a masters degree in library and information science (or a similar library science degree) on all entry-level positions.
