North Carolina Librarian Certification
:: 2024 Guide
Certification, or licensure, is a career gatekeeping process implemented by the state of North Carolina to help safeguard the public from negligence or harm by the actions of one who is ill prepared or criminally minded. For librarians, both school librarians and public librarians are required to hold certification prior to employment. However, most all types of librarians are required to hold a masters degree in Library and Information Science as a prerequisite to entry-level employment.
