Oklahoma Librarian Certification

Librarian Certification, or licensure, is Oklahoma’s gatekeeping process for two specific types of librarian: the school librarian and public librarian. These two types of librarians are required to meet certain educational, experience and testing criteria in addition to criminal background checks. 

For additional types of librarians, educational requirements are still in place in the form of mandatory master’s degree in Library and Information Science, or similar type of program, for entry-level positions.
